Hello,
I pray that this message finds you in blessed health and strength in the Lord Jesus the Christ!
We will begin our Lenten Season on February 14, 2018. There will be two Ash Wednesday services for your convenience. The first will be at 8:15 am-9:00 am and the second will be during Bible Study at 6:00 pm-6:45 pm with repass.
Below are the guidelines for our Lent Fast 2018:
Lent is from Wednesday February 14, through March 29, 2018.
- Daily prayer with devotional scripture; it is important that we start and close our day with our minds on God. This being the source where all our help comes from let us begin with this in mind. In the link provided you will find a Biblical Financial Principles. Click Here:
- Write a budget:
- Tithing to God first
- Tithing to self second
- Paying bills and obligations with the final 80%
- Determine from October and November impulse and excess spending where you can save by looking at your bank statements under entertainment purchases.
- We want to Fast each day from purchases that are not planned or scheduled to be made with out cost comparisons (impulse and excess spending). We recognize this may be difficult to do and do not want it to be a burden on you. So if you can not do the whole day fast, at least do ; part of the day, or at least one day a week during Lent.
- Do a combination of spending fast; eat only at home for meals and put your click and purchase apps/accounts on inactive (Uber, Uber eats, amazon prime, zappo to name a few, try to eat out once a week,or shop only on Sunday) Monday-Saturday.
- Increase your worship life; go to church every Sunday(on time) and Wednesday Bible Study.
- Practice giving a weekly or monthly Tithe.
- Save all that you don't spend at the end of each day/week and separate it from the obligation monies.
- Spread the Gospel; let others experience Christ through your actions, deeds, and words (Time and Talent).
- Discipleship; invite someone you love that is not active in your church to visit and worship with you.
- At the close of Lent on Easter Sunday we will divide our savings into three(3) parts.
- 1/3 as a sacrificial offering to God (over and above your tithe)
- 1/3 given to ourselves for savings
- 1/3 to reward ourselves for being faithful
I love you,
Rev. Omaràn D. Lee
